Several months ago, after much reflection and prayer, Jacob and I decided to share Sophia's journey with the world. Up til then, we kept Sophia's story within the confines of family and close friends, more at my insistance than Jacob's. We began sharing more information about Sophia--her medical issues and a few diagnoses she had received. At the time, I thought that was hard enough. Sophia is my baby girl and if I could hold her in my arms and keep her safe forever, I would gladly give up on the rest of the world, and snuggle with her and let time stop around us. But my plan is not God's plan and that's okay.
Sophia teaches me patience, understanding, compassion, and perserverance. I want to share Sophia's journey with others so that the term, "special needs", is no longer a negative term or something to be shied away from. I want there to be an understanding of medical conditions that afflict so many children so the mystery is removed. So that the next time a child with a feeding tube is being fed in public, he or she can do so without stares and whispers. So that when a child is having a seizure, odd eye movements, or has to be physically supported by her parents, there are no under the breath comments or long glances. And I think that maybe, just maybe, this is part of the miracle of Sophia---to promote the awareness and understanding of extra special children. So, with an open mind and open heart, please read about Sophia and feel free to ask questions.
Please join us in the adventure that is Sophia Grace. Let the journey begin....

When I heard Sophia's story for the first time it broke my heart and I felt like crying but I knew she needed pray and I called my preacher to pray for her. I want you to know your family is in our prayers and I always ask God to help you all to be strong and help you threw this hard time. We all love Sophia and hope for the best for her. My daughter Breanna really cares a lot about Sophia and can't wait to see her again. Your in our prayers. GOD BLESS YOU ALL !!!!! Your sister in CHRIST. SARA GRUNDY

ReplyDeleteI want to reach out and say hello and let you know that I'm following Sophia's journey from Shepherdsville, KY. She's a precious little girl and it's wonderful of you to share her story with the world. If you ever need help and wouldn't mind asking something of a stranger, my door is always open. <3
